After understanding where your money comes from and where it goes, it is now time to create our budget. This is certainly not an easy thing to do, so I will give you a step by step guide to create your own.

If you have any questions let me know in the comments.

Let‘s get started!

What You Need

  • Your income and expenses
  • Paper and pen or a spreadsheet
  • Your savings goals

Step by Step Guide To Create A Budget

Step 1: Layout

While it doesn‘t really matter how your budget looks like, it is helpful to divide it into different sections. The easiest way to do this is to write down all your income sources in one section and all your expenses in another one. If you like you can make a separate section for your savings.

Step 2: Planned and Actual Numbers

Fill in all your number. The planned numbers are your actual budget. If you are already paying this expense or receiving this income you can simply round the number (round expenses up and income down). If it is a new expense or income, find a comparable price and use that as your planned number. Keep track of your actual payments and fill in the number. This helps you to improve your budget.

Step 3: Savings

In this section you can plan as much or as little as you would like to put away for future expenses. One thing to remember is that putting money away before paying everything else is more effective than the other way around.

Step 4: What‘s Left

Whatever money you have left now is your profit and ideally this is a positive number. If not start looking at your expenses, maybe there is something you can cut. If not reduce the amount that goes into your savings. Your profit can either go into your savings, you can use it to pay off a loan or you can treat yourself 🙂
